🇮🇹 Sono da sempre una grande fan del lavoro di Kimberly nel mondo del wrestling, anche perché il mio sogno nel cassetto è proprio quello di diventare una fotografa e magari aver la possibilità di girare per gli show di wrestling e catturare quei momenti speciali, proprio come lei. In questa intervista ho voluto parlare insieme a lei del suo percorso da fotografa, della sua esperienza nel wrestling e della sua collaborazione con Becky Lynch, che l’ha portata a creare per l’irlandese alcune giacche iconiche che usa durante le sue entrate negli show WWE. 🇬🇧 I’ve always been a huge fan of Kimberly’s work in the wrestling world, especially since my dream is to one day become a photographer and hopefully have the chance to be at wrestling shows capturing those special moments, just like she does. In this interview I wanted to chat with her about her journey as a photographer, her experience with wrestling and her collaboration with Becky Lynch, which has brought her to create some of the Irish wrestler’s iconic jackets that we often see her wear during her entrances in WWE shows. 🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Come hai iniziato il tuo percorso da fotografa? / How did you get started as a photographer? 

Kimberly: Ho sempre portato con me la fotocamera ovunque andassi, che fossero concerti o eventi sportivi. Quando sono stata in grado di andare ad uno show WWE non c’era niente come catturare quei momenti con la fotocamera. Ci sono così tanta azione e cose da guardare che lo rendono davvero molto divertente. / I always took a camera to anything whether it be concerts or sporting events. When I was able to go to a WWE show, there was nothing like capturing those moments on camera. There’s so much action and things to look for that it makes it so much fun. 

🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Come sei diventata fan del wrestling? C’è stato qualcosa in particolare che ti ha fatta innamorare della disciplina? / How did you become a wrestling fan? Was there something in particular that made you fall in love with the discipline?

Kimberly: Dopo aver guardato [il wrestling] un paio di volte, CM Punk e AJ Lee mi hanno coinvolta più di qualsiasi altra cosa. Oltre a quello, poi è iniziato NXT e le donne che stavano facendo salire erano così incredibili e d’ispirazione che mi hanno resa una fan ancora più grande. / After just watching a couple times CM Punk and AJ Lee got me into more than anything. After that NXT was starting and the women they were bringing up were so incredible and inspiring just made me an even bigger fan. 

🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Cosa ti ha fatta decidere di concentrarti nel wrestling come soggetto per le tua carriera da fotografa invece che su qualcos’altro? / What made you decide to focus on wrestling as a subject for your photography career as opposed to anything else?

Kmberly: C’è molto ad uno show di wrestling. Dalle luci, agli sfondi, ai fans, ai cartelloni, agli outfit. Mi rende semplicemente felice sapere che ci sono centinaia di foto che sono amate e condivise che altrimenti non esisterebbero. Essere in grado di catturare un momento nel tempo e condividerlo è davvero gratificante. / There’s so much to a wrestling show. From the lights, the backgrounds, the fans, signs, the outfits. It’s just makes me happy to know there are hundreds of photos that are loved and shared that wouldn’t exist otherwise. Able to capture a moment in time and share it is so rewarding. 

🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Cosa ti piace di più: fotografare gli atleti mentre fanno la loro entrata o fare foto mentre c’è l’azione sul ring? / What do you enjoy the most: photographing athletes as they make their entrance or taking pictures of the in-ring action?

Kimberly: Le entrate, solo perché non ci sono corde in mezzo [ride]. Può essere fastidioso perché alcune teste potrebbero essere tagliate [dall’inquadratura] o [la macchina fotografica] potrebbe iniziare a mettere a fuoco le corde e [i wrestler] diventano sfocati, quindi devi costantemente assicurarti che non accada. / The entrances just because there are no ropes in the way lol. It can be annoying since you can get cut off heads or it’ll start focusing on the ropes and they become blurry so you have to constantly make sure that’s not the case. 

🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Quali wrestler donne (di qualsiasi compagnia) sono le tue 5 preferite? / Which female wrestlers (from any wrestling company) are your top 5 favorite?

Kimberly: Non posso nemmeno elencarne 50 probabilmente [ride]. Le amo tutte perché ognuna di loro porta qualcosa di unico e diverso che serve per far funzionare tutto. Ora direi che le mie preferite alla quale fare foto sono quelle che si cambiano costume e outfit perché [l’effetto] sarà sempre qualcosa di unico. Adoro come Becky indossi un nuovo outfit ogni settimana. Sasha è sempre magnifica quando esce fuori. Bianca fa da sola le sue gear, il che è incredibile, e le stanno sempre benissimo. / No way I can even list 50 probably lol. I love everyone because they all bring something unique and different that is needed to make everything work. Right now I’ll say my favorites to take photos of are the ones that will change their gears/outfits since it’ll be something unique. I love how Becky is wearing new outfits weekly. Sasha always come out looking amazing. Bianca makes her own gear which is incredible and she always looks so good. 

🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Ora passando alle collaborazioni: più volte abbiamo visto The Man indossare delle giacche che tu hai creato. Come hai iniziato a lavorare/collaborare con Becky Lynch? / Now onto the collaborations: multiple times we’ve seen The Man wear some awesome jackets that you created. How did you start working/collaborating with Becky Lynch?

Kimberly: In realtà le ho dato semplicemente una giacca ad un evento. Lei l’ha amata e l’ha indossata quella settimana. Da quel momento penso sempre ad un mondo per renderla cool ogni volta che è in TV. Cambio la schiena per renderla a tema con quello che sta accadendo in tv e la settimana dopo ho una nuova giacca per lei. / It was just really I gave her a jacket to her at an event. She loved it and wore it that week. From then on I would always think of way to make her look cool coming out on TV. Changing the back to make it topical to what was happening on TV and the next week I’d have a jacket for her. 

🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Quando studi e crei un nuovo design di una giacca per Becky, prendi il controllo creativo del progetto o lei ti suggerisce alcune idee o specifici dettagli che le piacerebbe avere sopra la giacca? / When you study and create a new design for a jacket for Becky, do you just take creative control over the project or does she suggest some ideas or specific details that she would like on it?

Kimberly: È venuta da me un paio di volte ed è stato per creare un logo GOAT [Greatest Of All Time ndr] e voleva qualcosa che fosse un ibrido tra lei e una capra, quindi ho creato alcune idee da mostrarle e l’ho dipinta in un paio di giorni. Ha voluto anche una giacca con le placche laterali delle persone che ha battuto lungo le braccia. / She came to me a couple times and that was to create a GOAT logo and she wanted something that looked like a hybrid of her and goat so I created a few ideas from her showed her and painted it within a couple days. She also wanted a jacket with the side plates down the arm of people she has beaten.

🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Hai creato giacche per molte altre atlete oltre Becky Lynch, ho visto che hai anche creato il design di alcune scarpe. Qual è la tua top 3 delle creazioni che hai creato? / You have created jackets for many other athletes besides Becky Lynch, I saw you’ve designed some shoes as well. What are your top 3 favorite creations that you’ve made come to life?

Kimberly: La giacca di Evolution che ho creato con i loghi di tutte le donne dipinti sopra è sicuramente una delle mie preferite. La giacca di pelle viola con il logo di Sasha Banks è un’altra bellissima giacca. È stato anche divertente creare le due paia di Converse di Alexa Bliss e Naomi, per quanto erano colorate. / The Evolution jacket I made with all the women’s logos painted on is definitely a favorite. The purple leather jacket with Sasha Banks logo is another beautiful jacket. Alexa Bliss and Naomi painted converse were both really fun to do too with how colorful they are.

🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Immagino che tu ora stia vivendo un po’ il tuo sogno in questo momento. Cosa diresti a qualcuno che vuole fare un percorso simili al tuo? Hai qualche consiglio o parola di incoraggiamento? / As I imagine you’re kind of living out your dream right now, what would you say to someone who would like to embark upon a similar career journey to yours? Do you have some advice or words of encouragement?

Kimberly: Ho avuto delle esperienze fantastica nel fare foto e ne ho scattate alcune che sono state condivise più e più volte, ma ho ancora tanto da imparare. Siate solo creativi in qualsiasi cosa che amate fare e vi divertirete. Continuate semplicemente a farlo e continuate a far pratica di qualsiasi cosa amiate fare. / I have had some great experiences taking photos and I have taken some photos that have been shared over and over but I still have a-lot to learn. Everyone just be creative in whatever field you love doing and you will have the best time. Just keep doing it and keep practicing at whatever it is you love to do.
